OUR MISSION
Following Christ’s example of loving and serving others, Ignite Change empowers families to achieve a bright and sustainable future.
WHAT WE VALUE
1. We value keeping families together
During our work in Uganda, we have learned that many children who end up in orphanages have families who love them, but who simply cannot afford to feed and care for them. We partner with families to identify sustainable income generating activities (IGAs) to support the family unit and prevent children with parents from being taken to orphanages.
2. We value self-sustainability
We believe people want to work to provide for their families and that, given the tools and the knowledge, families will work hard to achieve self-sustainability. We rejoice with the families who are already working hard to build a better future for their children.
3. We value the power of education for positive change
We believe that education is one of the best ways to break the poverty cycle. Education is an integral component of change. As a part of our work with families, we provide many classes on financial management, health, and life skills to aid families in becoming sustainable through their income generating activities. We also plan to provide a quality education to individuals through a technical school. This strong foundation in their life will encourage and inspire them to pursue their God given talents.
4. We value a holistic approach to community development
We believe in identifying and utilizing existing community capacities to create change. Building off the knowledge base already present, we foster growth to meet community and individual needs including physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
WHO WE ARE
All of our hope comes from God (Psalm 62:5-8).
We believe that all people are made in God’s image (Genesis 1:27) and that all people have value and worth as beloved creatures of God (Genesis 1:31).
We are motivated by Christ’s example of loving and serving others, and we are emboldened by the Great Commission to share Christ’s love with the whole world (Matthew 28:19-20).
As members together of the body of Christ, we are called to work together and to value the gifts and contributions each member brings to our collective work (1 Corinthians 12).
We believe God is calling us to this mission and that God is empowering us to fulfill it (Ephesians 3:20-21; Colossians 1:3-29).
